CAC (Child Advocacy Center)

The mission of the Child Advocacy Center (CAC) is to be the Mobile community response to the problem of child abuse.  Abused children are interviewed here by a specialized, trained team of professionals.  Children and their non-offending family members are referred for counseling and prepared for the criminal justice process.  Also provided are educational and training programs in child abuse awareness and prevention.

Alabama Network of Child Advocacy Centers

The Alabama Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers, Inc. (ANCAC or The Network) is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote the multi-disciplinary process in fostering an abuse-free society for Alabama’s children and support the development of the children’s advocacy center model through public awareness, training and collaborative partnerships.

Prescott House Children's Advocacy Center

Prescott House Children`s Advocacy provides services to child victims of physical and sexual abuse, severely neglected children and children who have witnessed a violent crime. The Center is a 501 © 3 non-profit organization located in Birmingham, AL. It provides services for the Birmingham Division of Jefferson County as well as other areas as needed. Representatives from the Jefferson County District Attorney`s Office, local law enforcement agencies, Alabama Department of Human Resources, and medical and mental health professionals work with Prescott House staff when cases are reported.

    Part of Cornell's Legal Information Institute site, the Uniform Matrimonial and Family Law Locator allows you to find the original text of family-related Uniform Laws as well as corresponding state laws.
  • National Association of Counsel for Children
    A non-profit child advocacy and professional membership association dedicated to providing legal representation for children. The site includes an attorney referral database and career and training information.
  • National Conference of State Legislatures - Human Services Page
    Include links to legislative information, news, and reports, sorted by topic (e.g. Child Welfare, Early Childhood, Youth).
  • National Center for Juvenile Justice
    The National Center for Juvenile Justice (NCJJ) is the oldest juvenile justice research organization in the United States. Their Web site includes annual reports, state juvenile justice profiles, and statistics.
  • National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges
    Since its founding by a group of judges in 1937, the NCJFCJ has worked to improve the effectiveness of the nation's juvenile courts and raise awareness of the core issues affecting children and families. The NCJFCJ Web site includes links to news items, conference information, and NCJFCJ publications.
